Wesley ter Haar is the founder of MediaMonks, a global creative production company. His role as head of operations has been key in the growth (450 Monks), expansion (10 offices) and quality of the work (67 Lions, Ad Agency A-list). Ter Haar now heads the U.S. offices in Los Angeles and New York. Perhaps his most notable contribution to the digital industry as of yet was instigating the creation of the Digital Craft category for Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity 2016, and in turn being appointed as the category’s inaugural jury president. The importance of this category goes beyond being an additional award opportunity, and positions digital strategy, UX and digital design as being part of the creative remit of agencies and marketing alike.
Beyond his role as jury president, ter Haar spends his time serving on the board of directors of SoDA, including the role as Project Management Dean at the SoDA Academy; and is part of industry juries like the Webbys, FWA and Awwwards. In the 15 years since he founded MediaMonks, ter Haar has celebrated MediaMonks becoming the most awarded agency at the FWA, its 15th anniversary of prolific production, as well as opening a series of new international offices, including Los Angeles—totaling the company’s global reach at ten offices worldwide. Finally, with the acquisition of STOPP and its specialist expertise in virtual reality, ter Haar is now helping to push the presence of VR in the advertising industry and beyond.
